And an addendum to my previous post…

I read a lot of FOX News and NewsBusters. FOX, because they seem to be the least left-leaning of the big three news websites (CNN and MSNBC are the other two), and NewsBusters because they have former news reporters (and some current ones) who are constantly on the lookout for news reports that show a liberal bias in the media. Lately, that doesn’t seem to hard to find. I also occasionally head over to CNN, because when it comes to a story’s facts, it’s sometimes hard to mess those up. (Although some of the things I’ve read from the Associated Press in regards to politics would seem to belie that statement.)

But nowadays, when I read stories on NewsBusters, I want to throw my laptop through the window.

I will admit I watch no national news anymore, and very little local news, because of the media’s leftist slant. (That’s one of the main reasons I got out of the business.) So I don’t see first-hand the reports being critiqued on NewsBusters. But maybe that’s a good thing, because some of the stuff that is being reported and/or opined upon by the media seems to be twisted and/or simply falsified in order to push the left’s agenda. And when I read about polls like this one from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, which states only 28 percent of those polled believe the media gets the news right, and only 18 percent believe it treats both sides in a story fairly, then I think it’s time we called a spade a spade: The Mainstream News Media is decidedly “liberal” (read: socialist) and is fully in the tank for both the Democratic Party and the current occupant of the White House.

In one particularly egregious clip that I saw, MSNBC election night host Chris Matthews continually berated Republican representative Michelle Bachmann of Minnesota, asking her if she was “hypnotized” while other hosts on the set that night giggled. For her part, Rep. Bachmann conducted herself with dignity, but the same cannot be said of the MSNBC hosts on the air that night. It was a deplorable illustration of just how far the left has gone, and a dangerous reminder of who still holds the reins when it comes to news coverage in this country.

Now, New York congressman Jay Rockefeller wants the FCC to shut down FOX News (and MSNBC, I suppose in the spirit of “fairness”). I’m appalled by this apparent disregard for the First Amendment to the Constitution, and am still as frightened for the future of my country as I was before the election of the Current Occupant; I know that if the media is allowed to continue its slander of the majority of people in this country, who only want to live their lives without undue Government intrusion, then the very vocal minority of other ethnic groups, atheists, gays/lesbians, and socialists will have a greater foothold, and there will be very little the rest of us can do to stop it (I say “very little,” because there is one alternative, but it’s not pretty). The only other option we have is to continue to align ourselves with God and Jesus, because they are truly the only ones that can get us out of this mess…and then pray it doesn’t happen again.
