See how this sounds…”American League Champion Texas Rangers.”
Kind of has a nice ring to it, don’t you think? And it can be true if the Rangers win tonight in Arlington.
Standing in their way, two things: The New York Yankees, pushed to the brink of elimination.
The second thing? My boss’ bad mojo. You see, he has never seen the Rangers win. Oh, he’s been to plenty of games, and he’s seen plenty of games on TV. But he’s never seen them win.
And he’s going to the game tonight.
Oddly enough, though, I get no sense of impending doom. This Rangers team seems confident, taking a one-game-at-a-time attitude (even a one-inning-at-a-time attitude) and not looking forward to anything but tonight’s game. And they bounced back after the bullpen’s game 1 meltdown. So there’s every reason to think that the American League pennant will be flying over Arlington after tonight.
Just in case, though, I’m going to have my boss wear a disguise to the Ballpark.
